These pieces are a response to a specific set of creative questions. What geometric shapes can be born of a single, continuous line? How would these diverse, rather arbitrary shapes work together harmoniously? How would they transform between point, line and actual form. What can exist, how does it exist and how does it interact with what is around it? What does the design have to say? What little adventures could one make?

Il Cappello di Nonno (Grandpa's Hat)

A memory came to life again during this geometric exploration. In the summer of 2003 the sun was especially strong in the south of Italy and created situations the farmers had never seen before. This prompted them to do things they never had to do before. "Nothing is the same anymore, not even the weather." With at least three thousand years of farming tradition in this region it created some fear. A light moment that caused everyone to laugh was when one by one in quick succession, everyone noticed "Grandpa" (Nonno) had put on an extra hat to protect his head from the sun. The second hat was rather askew. A story born of a random line.

Safe Inside

"Safe Inside" and "Under Cover" are the same, in that the movement of the line offered interiors not explored before. The line and shapes were designed first and then the spheres were inserted to accent the new sense of volume being created.

Under Cover

The Hermit

"Hermit Kermit" is a great example of this process. The little central motif signifys nothing more than an entity that seems rather happy in it's own little environment. The entire design being born of a single line randomely drawn that is continuous.
